Stating that multidimensional and comprehensive activities are carried out to ensure equality of opportunity in education, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer said that they continue to work to enable children with special education needs to participate in all areas of social life, to benefit from equal opportunities in education and to integrate with the society. Özer noted that they provide services to children of compulsory education who receive inpatient treatment in health institutions due to health problems, so that they can continue their education at the hospital or at home.
Expressing that teachers make great sacrifices to ensure that students who receive inpatient treatment in hospitals due to health problems and students who receive education at home because it requires long-term treatment do not break away from life and continue their education uninterrupted, Özer noted that as of today, 1 thousand 500 students continue their education in 51 hospital classes in 22 provinces due to health problems. Stating that two classroom teachers were assigned in each of these classes, Özer said that teachers are assigned from other fields in case of need.
Minister Özer elaborated that home education services are provided for students of compulsory education who require special education, and are not able to benefit from formal education institutions for at least twelve weeks due to health problems.
Certificate of achievement to all teachers who provide education services at home or in the hospital classroom
Reminding that teachers made great sacrifices to keep schools open during the Covid-19 pandemic, Minister Özer stated that 11 thousand 22 students were educated at home by 12 thousand 3 teachers Özer noted that they would like to reward teachers who work day and night to raise the young architects of the future, and who are the light to the students, by sending them a certificate of achievement. Thanking teachers for their sacrifice, Özer noted that they established a hospital classroom at any desired point in 81 provinces, without any public-private distinction in order to enable children to continue education under any circumstances.
