The Ministry of National Education aims at opening 3 thousand new kindergartens and 40 thousand new preschool classes by the end of 2022. Moreover, it has been decided that kindergarten buildings or classes will be included in the design of all primary schools which will be built in the country.

 

Goal set for 2022 is 76% 

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer stressed that the Ministry is working hard in order to increase schooling rate in preschool education and went on to say that:

 

"We want to increase preschool schooling rate in order to increase equal opportunity in education. Within this framework, we will open 3 thousand new kindergartens and 40 thousand new preschool classes until the end of 2022. We have initiated and are carrying  out a project with the support of Ms. Emine Erdoğan. At first, we will complete the construction of 1000 kindergarten buildings in İstanbul by the end of 2022. We are aiming at increasing the schooling rate among the age 3 groups from 14% to 50%, schooling rate among age 4 groups from 35% to 70% and among age 5 groups from 78% to 100. When we achieve this goal, we will also reach the OECD average schooling rate."
